چکیده

Wastewater management remains a major challenge in developing countries due to the lack of adequate infrastructure, making need for economically viable and efficient technologies that can be sustained by emerging economies imperative. The upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor represents an low-cost technology produces by-products from which valuable resources recovered. This study assessed energy recovery potential form electricity biogas produced full-scale UASB reactor. Biogas production rate composition were monitored determine potential. Dehydrated drying beds was likewise quantified characterised its elemental composition, immediate gross calorific value net estimate average daily found 611 ± 275 Nm3/d, with 65% methane output. Average dry matter determined 358.24 TS kg/d. estimated 534.1 MWh/yr, 36% more than yearly demand (392.7 MWh/yr) entire plant. Conservative at UASB-based municipal wastewater treatment facility could serve as self-supply option support operations.

Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (uasb) Reactor in Wastewater Treatment

Under anaerobic conditions, organic pollutants in wastewater are degraded by microbes producing methane and carbon dioxide. The degradation process is effective compared to the more conventional aerobic processes and produces only 5-10% of sludge. This saves considerably on cost associated with the sludge disposal. Among anaerobic technologies, the most popular ones is the upflow anaerobic slud...

Diversity Profile of Microbes Associated with Anaerobic Sulfur Oxidation in an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor Treating Municipal Sewage

We herein analyzed the diversity of microbes involved in anaerobic sulfur oxidation in an upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactor used for treating municipal sewage under low-temperature conditions. Anaerobic sulfur oxidation occurred in the absence of oxygen, with nitrite and nitrate as electron acceptors; however, reactor performance parameters demonstrated that anaerobic conditions we...

Start-Up Of An Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket Reactor Treating Low-Strength Wastewater Inoculated With Non-Granular Sludge

The upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) process is known to be energy conservative biotechnology. Its low cost and low skill requirement render it to be a viable technology for reducing organic pollution loads. However, this system is facing a challenge in the treatment of low-strength wastewater especially inoculated with non-granular sludge. This work was performed to emphasis an in-depth ...

Modelling of an Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket reactor

A model describing both physical and biological processes in Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB) reactors was developed. The main objective of the modelling was to take into account the transient growth of the microorganisms from the start-up of the reactor until a steady state is reached. In addition, the model considers the degradation of the substrate and its reaction with the biomass, wh...

Degradation of methanethiol by methylotrophic methanogenic archaea in a lab-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor.

In a lab-scale upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactor inoculated with granular sludge from a full-scale wastewater treatment plant treating paper mill wastewater, methanethiol (MT) was degraded at 30 degrees C to H2S, CO2, and CH4. At a hydraulic retention time of 9 h, a maximum influent concentration of 6 mM MT was applied, corresponding to a volumetric loading rate of 16.5 mmol liter-1 day-1...
